Jill Snelson is a Certified Professional Midwife (CPM) providing out-of-hospital midwifery care through Charis Birth & Wellness. Her work is rooted in relationship-based care, clinical discernment, and a deep respect for physiologic birth.
Jill completed four years of hands-on midwifery training along with an Associate’s degree in midwifery from a MEAC-accredited institution before sitting for her boards. Her clinical approach reflects both technical skill and practical experience, with a strong emphasis on ongoing assessment, clear risk evaluation, and evidence-based decision-making in the out-of-hospital setting.
Practicing in Georgia—where maternal morbidity and mortality rates remain among the highest in the nation—Jill is deeply committed to expanding access to safe, individualized, out-of-hospital care. She believes that community-based midwifery plays a critical role in addressing gaps in the current maternity care system by offering attentive, relationship-centered care for low-risk families. Her advocacy centers on improving outcomes through appropriate risk screening, continuity of care, and supporting physiologic birth in the right setting.
Jill is known for her steady presence in birth, her ability to recognize both normal physiologic progression and early deviation, and her commitment to providing care that is both attentive and appropriately hands-on. She believes that safety in out-of-hospital birth is not only built on clinical skill and careful screening, but also on trust—trust in the physiologic process, and trust within the client-provider relationship as a foundational element of care.
At the heart of her work is the belief that birth is not only physical, but deeply spiritual. The name “Charis,” meaning grace, reflects her desire to practice in a way that honors both the design of the body and the presence of God within the birth space. She approaches each family with humility, recognizing that her role is not to control the process, but to steward it with wisdom, attentiveness, and respect.
Her practice prioritizes individualized care, informed decision-making, and clear communication, ensuring that each client is an active participant in her care. Jill is particularly passionate about supporting families who are seeking a more intentional, relational model of maternity care.
Outside of her work, Jill is a wife and mother to two kids who are growing up far too quickly, and shares life at home with her family dog. When she is not attending births or caring for clients, she enjoys knitting, crocheting, and—whenever possible—getting as much sleep as she can!
Charis Birth & Wellness is excited to have a new student midwife joining the practice in late 2026! Stay tuned to find out more about who she is and what she brings to this practice!
