Hi, I'm Jill.
Certified Professional Midwife • Wife • Mom • Birth Worker Since 2006
For nearly two decades, I've had the privilege of walking alongside women and families through pregnancy, birth, and the postpartum season. My approach to care is rooted in relationship, clinical discernment, and a deep respect for the physiologic process of birth.
I believe the best care is both clinically sound and deeply personal. My goal is not simply to help families have babies, but to provide steady support, thoughtful guidance, and a space where they feel known and cared for every step of the way.

Relationship-centered care for low-risk families
My path into birth work began in 2006 and has included years of learning, mentorship, and hands-on experience. Over time, what began as an interest became a calling.
I completed three years of hands-on midwifery training and earned an Associate's degree in Midwifery from National College of Midwifery before obtaining my certification as a Certified Professional Midwife.
Practicing in Georgia has only strengthened my belief that families deserve access to safe, individualized, relationship-centered maternity care. I believe community-based midwifery plays an important role in supporting healthy, low-risk families and preserving physiologic birth in the appropriate setting.
Birth, to me, is not only physical, but deeply spiritual. I consider it a privilege to witness the strength, vulnerability, and transformation that accompany the journey into parenthood.
My Journey Into Midwifery
Education & Experience
I’m so happy to introduce Madison Vanschoiack, student midwife with Charis Birth & Wellness.
Madison came to Charis with several years of experience supporting women as a doula and birth assistant, but what stood out to me was much more than the experience she already had. She is eager to learn, willing to work, genuinely curious about the why behind what we do, and deeply respectful of the women and families we serve.
Taking on a student is a big commitment for both of us. Midwifery is learned through study, certainly, but so much of it is learned by walking alongside an experienced midwife—watching, asking questions, developing hands-on skills, learning clinical judgment, and gradually taking on more responsibility. I don't take lightly who I invite into that process or into the intimate spaces of pregnancy, birth, and postpartum.
I’m excited to have Madison learning alongside me and becoming part of the Charis family. I think she brings something really special to our team, and I’m looking forward to watching her grow into the midwife she is meant to become.
Now, I’ll let her introduce herself. 🤍
Meet Madison Vanschoiack, Student Midwife!
Wife. Mom. Doula since 2021. And now, stepping into a new chapter as a student midwife.
My love for midwifery actually started long before I had the words for it. I’ve been an “animal midwife” since I was a kid —always fascinated by birth, instinct, and the incredible way mothers bring their babies into the world.
Since becoming a mother myself, I’ve become deeply passionate about human birth, birth rights, informed consent, and the importance of truly having options. I believe women deserve to understand their choices and have a voice in their care.
Up to this point I have had the privilege of supporting families through all kinds of births and seasons of motherhood through doula work and midwife assisting. I’ve always wanted to go deeper and to understand birth beyond the support role, to learn the skills, the physiology, the responsibility, and the art of midwifery and now is that time.
Birth looks different for every woman, and I don’t believe there is one “right” way to give birth. My hope is that every woman I serve feels heard, informed, respected, supported, and confident in her ability to make decisions about her own body and her own birth.
It is an absolute honor to be a part of such an intimate and sacred part of your life. As a student midwife, I’m grateful for every opportunity to learn, serve, ask questions, gain experience, and be an extra set of hands within your care.

Relationship
I believe the best care begins with relationship. Trust, communication, and truly knowing the families I serve are foundational to the way I practice. Care that knows you—not just your chart—creates space for meaningful conversations, informed decision-making, and the kind of trust that allows families to feel seen, heard, and supported throughout pregnancy, birth, and the postpartum season.
Grace
The name Charis comes from the Greek word meaning grace, and grace is woven throughout both my life and my practice. My Christian faith is central to who I am and influences the way I care for others. I believe birth is not only physical, but deeply spiritual, and I strive to approach each family with humility, compassion, and respect. My desire is to honor both the design of the body and the presence of God within the birth space.
Safety
Safety in out-of-hospital birth is built on more than clinical skill alone. It requires thoughtful screening, ongoing assessment, shared understanding, and a commitment to practicing within a clearly defined circle of safety. I believe that trust and safety are not opposing values—they work together. Families deserve both compassionate support and honest conversations, with decisions made through a lens of wisdom, evidence, and individualized care.
What Matters Most
A Final Thought…
Choosing a midwife is one of the most personal decisions a family can make, and I never take that trust lightly. Inviting someone into your pregnancy, your birth space, and your postpartum journey requires vulnerability, and I consider it a tremendous privilege to walk alongside families during such a meaningful season of life.
I understand that there are many wonderful providers and many different paths to welcoming a baby. My hope is not simply that families choose home birth, but that they find care that is aligned with their values, supports their goals, and allows them to feel safe, respected, and deeply cared for.
For those who choose Charis Birth & Wellness, my commitment is simple: to provide thoughtful, relationship-centered care rooted in grace, guided by wisdom, and grounded in a shared commitment to safety.
Whether our paths ultimately lead us to work together or not, I am grateful that you've taken the time to learn more about my heart and the work I feel so honored to do.
It would be my privilege to walk alongside your family.
