I believe the best care begins with relationship. Trust, communication, and truly knowing the families I serve are foundational to the way I practice. Care that knows you—not just your chart—creates space for meaningful conversations, informed decision-making, and the kind of trust that allows families to feel seen, heard, and supported throughout pregnancy, birth, and the postpartum season.

Grace

The name Charis comes from the Greek word meaning grace, and grace is woven throughout both my life and my practice. My Christian faith is central to who I am and influences the way I care for others. I believe birth is not only physical, but deeply spiritual, and I strive to approach each family with humility, compassion, and respect. My desire is to honor both the design of the body and the presence of God within the birth space.

Safety

Safety in out-of-hospital birth is built on more than clinical skill alone. It requires thoughtful screening, ongoing assessment, shared understanding, and a commitment to practicing within a clearly defined circle of safety. I believe that trust and safety are not opposing values—they work together. Families deserve both compassionate support and honest conversations, with decisions made through a lens of wisdom, evidence, and individualized care.

A Final Thought…

Choosing a midwife is one of the most personal decisions a family can make, and I never take that trust lightly. Inviting someone into your pregnancy, your birth space, and your postpartum journey requires vulnerability, and I consider it a tremendous privilege to walk alongside families during such a meaningful season of life.

I understand that there are many wonderful providers and many different paths to welcoming a baby. My hope is not simply that families choose home birth, but that they find care that is aligned with their values, supports their goals, and allows them to feel safe, respected, and deeply cared for.
