Charis Birth & Wellness is an out-of-hospital midwifery practice offering individualized, relationship-based care for low-risk pregnancies. Our work is grounded in clinical skill, guided by discernment, and shaped by a deep respect for physiologic birth. We do not operate from a one-size-fits-all model; each pregnancy is assessed on its own merits, with ongoing evaluation to maintain safety while preserving the integrity of the birth process. Care includes routine maternal assessments and monitoring, evidence-based screening and lab work, evaluation of fetal growth and well-being, and continuous risk assessment with clearly defined transfer criteria when indicated.

At the core of our philosophy is the understanding that birth is a physiologic process, not a medical event by default. We trust the body’s design, intervene when clinically necessary, and avoid unnecessary disruption. We believe true safety is achieved through careful screening, ongoing assessment, and skilled presence—not routine intervention. What distinguishes our care is a steady presence that does not rush or impose arbitrary timelines, clinical discernment to recognize both normal progression and deviation, and a deep respect for client autonomy, where individuals are active participants in their care rather than passive recipients.

This model is not built on convenience, but on intention. It is slower, more attentive, and deeply relational—and for the families who align with it, it provides a level of care that is both grounded and profoundly supportive.
